How to Deal with Problems/Issues

I have spoken about this topic in many posts here. This is a solution-oriented post where I have shared an approach that has worked for me. If you are dealing with something, I hope it may work for you too.

Our body, the environment, the Universe is equipped to help us deal with issues in our everyday life. There are three factors that play a role while in the situation.

Factor 1: External Factors

External factors such as changing a city, coloring our hair, talking to friends may help deal with the issue. We can find our answers and move on.

Factor 2: Internal Factors

Our bodies, our thoughts help us. It motivates us to deal with the situation the right way. You push your body to perform, your mind to work, to find solutions.

Factor 3: Go Blank

There are other times when we just go blank with issues and situations. Nothing works. External factors don’t help. The push, the motivation, the strength is just isn’t left in us. We are emotionally, physically and mentally drained. There is no energy left.

This is a scary situation. Our conscious body know when we are in THIS situation. It is just that either you can ignore this feeling and give-in to drastic decisions or we take a step further and INTROSPECT. If we don’t introspect, we may be stuck in the situation for weeks, months or even years. So, what do we do in the INTROSPECT stage/phase?

Phase 1: Ask Questions

Pick a paper and pen, or Notes on your mobile or laptop and start noting down the following questions and its answers. If you aren’t honest in your answers you may never come out of the situation.

  • Why is the problem here?
  • Why am I not able to deal with it?
  • Is it even worth so much thought and effort?

An important question here that we need to avoid is: Who is the cause of the issue? It is never going to help us to point fingers. We will always be biased towards ourselves and blame others. So, just avoid this question.

Continuing with our list of questions:

  • Is this problem going to go away if I sort it today?
  • Will it recur 10 years from now?
    • If yes, then which is the best way to deal with it? Should I just ignore it?
    • If no, if it doesn’t recur it means this problem CAN be solved. That’s good. Now think how.

Now that you have the answers to all the questions, start analyzing. In this we have various phases that lead to the solution. Few of the questions must have driven you towards the solution. And for those that are still open-ended, the below two options will help.

Phase 2 Option 1: Ignore It

If it can’t be solved, just leave it. IGNORE it. At least for the moment. But as far as I know, every problem HAS a solution. Just that we don’t see the solution coming our way. Here, perspective helps. Distance yourself from the issue and view it from a bird’s eye point of view. It will help you deal with it better.

Phase 2 Option 2: Leave It

You thought and tried many options and nothing worked. So, what do we do now? If nothing works then just pray to the Universe/Guiding Force and leave it there. This may seem silly but it has worked for me many times. It may not feel like a solution at all. Trust me the issue does get solved on its own or the intensity of the problem definitely reduces or it may not seem a problem anymore. So, just live with it. Let it be. What we need to do is just shift our focus to some other priorities in life. Over a period of time, it will become trivial. We will lose touch with the problem and we would have moved on. I am sure now when we look back 10 years, we will laugh off many situations. 10 years from now, we will laugh off this too.

P.S. This post doesn't apply to depression issues.
